As people age, more diseases are able to infect the body and soul.  The condition most commonly found to affect senior citizens is lack of bone mass and bone loss.  Hip Osteoarthritis (OA) is a regular form of osteoarthritis. It affects the hip joint greatly the same way it affects the knee. The hip joint is the joint that connects the pelvis, or pelvic bone to the thigh bone (femur). Most common symptoms to occur is a limp, which is the body’s system of reducing the amount of force that the hip has to hold up. The  difficulty with certain actions such as getting into or out of a car or a low chair, or using the toilet are affected by the stiffness of your hip.  Further symptoms will disturb your activities during day and night. Commonly there are two types of treatments to minimize the Osteoarthritis syndrome. The first- a non-surgical treatment- is the prescription of medication in order to control the pain. This however, will only help in the short term. Secondly, various methods of surgery can be applied in order to treat Osteoarthritis symptoms i.e. Arthroscopy (‘Keyhole Surgery’) , Artificial Hip Replacement  and Surgery on depuy pinnacle. Although a surgical treatment will assist in the long term, everyday performance will be affected during the healing process.

For women in the early stages of menopause as well as for adrenaline user the symptoms of Osteoarthritis are barely visible. Some just use prescription drugs such as Fosamax to reduce the pain. Fosamax is a prescription drug that acts against bone loss or weakness and is used by women & men to prevent or treat  osteoporosis.

Throughout the year 2000 and through to 2004, there was a large amount of complaints about the side effect of the drugs, which triggered an extensive safety review by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) . Then, in 2008 FDA investigated the link between Fosamax and femur Fractures which  resulted in many past users of the drug filing lawsuits against fosamax in 2010.  Any patient who sought compensations through filling the individual fosamax lawsuits were able to receive compensation for loss of income, medical bills, permanent disability costs, out of pocket expenses and the highlight of pain and suffering.
